ELIXIR collaboration workshop on marine informatics

Meeting scope: To bring together the marine informatics community to discuss infrastructure needs for reference genomes (e.g. but not limited to: cod, salmon, sea urchin, coral, diatoms), metagenomics and host-parasite (salmon-lice) research.

Expected participants:  Senior/PI level participants, who are able to discuss the strategic views, from the following

• ELIXIR Nodes and EMBL-EBI
• EMBRC
• MIRRI
• AQUAEXCEL
• Tara Oceans
• MicroB3
• Representatives from other related infrastructures

Expected outcomes:

• Establish a consortia for marine reference genomes
• Plans for a White paper, scope to be defined at the workshop
• Possible ELIXIR pilot actions that address gap areas in the marine informatics
• Plans for future grants / opportunities for future funding
