Short Aquafeed Article on Results of the High-Level Think Tank on Environmental Biotechnology

The think tank made recommendations on the use of beneficial marine microbes, as well as the human resources and infrastructures needed for SMEs and large industry to benefit from marine data.
Several recommendations were developed, among them how to make especially young scientists more aware of market interests and pressures. In order to mould the thinking of a next generation of scientists in a more entrepreneurial way, their training and education should encompass business-relevant skills. Another key point is the necessary efficient up-scaling of production. Finally it was suggested that easy-to-understand messages on promising marine and environmental biotech options will create a positive image for products ‘from the sea’.
