Successful European Maritime Day and Public Day in Bremen
Public Day
The Public Day on May 18, 2014 started at the “Weserbahnhof”, which was transformed into a Research Alley for this day. Maritime research facilities including the the Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology, the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI), the Center for Marine Environmental Sciences (MARUM) and the Leibniz Center for Tropical Marine Ecology presented themselves and their work. Making use of attractive infotainment features and a series of lectures, representatives from the research community made their highly specialised knowledge understandable for everyone.
The Conference
This year's European Maritime Day Conference held over the 19 & 20 May in Bremen, saw industry experts and policy makers from across Europe come together to discuss how innovation and research in the maritime economy can drive a European growth and jobs recovery whilst securing a sustainable future for Europe's seas.
